Tiburon 02

Located inland on the Tiburon peninsula, the houses blends into the postcard perfect landscape into which it is placed.

Built of robust flame resistant construction, the home is designed to blur the boundary between interior and exterior with many of the living spaces opening onto large terraces or lawns. Stunning views of the rolling hillsides and surrounding forests can be enjoyed from every room.

The pallet of materials chosen for the exterior was informed by the site. Exposed concrete foundations, retaining walls and stone clad columns were inspired by adjacent rocky outcroppings. Sturdy wood detailing and trims invoke the old growth Coast Live Oak trees dotting the golden - or green in the winter - grass covered hills. Dark bronze metals nod to the rails of the historic train trestle that once passed nearby, and cement plaster reminds us of the heavily worn paths wildlife has carved while traversing the area.
